Our Mission Statement & Goals

Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation works with partners to build and sustain a thriving, economically diverse community in Hyde Park, Roslindale and parts of Mattapan. We work to prevent displacement, particularly of low and moderate income families and elderly residents, create and preserve affordable housing, strengthen the commercial base of the neighborhoods, ensure access to good transit, protect conservation land and waterways and promote climate resiliency. We are committed to creating more equitable neighborhoods.

The Green Initiative

Since 2009, The Green Team job readiness and environmental stewardship program has employed over 220 Boston youth to maintain Hyde Park’s conservation land (urban wilds) by building trails, removing invasive plants and planting native species. Youth learn about climate change and work with adults on mitigation strategies.

The 2024 Green Team wrapped up their 16 summer season! Follow their progress on Instagram @greenteam_swboston.

Community Organizing & Economic Development

Working with community members and neighborhood organizations is integral to all of our work. Collectively we advocate for affordable housing protection, improved service on the Fairmount Commuter Rail Line, renovation of the Doyle Park, advocating for a clean Neponset River, and planning for Climate Resiliency in our Environmental Justice Communities.
